The Betfair Chase is a Grade 1 staying chase at Haydock Park, run on a Saturday in late November over about three miles and a furlong. It is the first Grade 1 chase of the British jumps season, so it is often the first meeting of the season between the leading staying chasers. Selections publish on the day of racing — see today's racing tips or the Haydock course page. 18+ BeGambleAware.
The Betfair Chase is run at Haydock Park on a Saturday in late November. First run in 2005, it is the first Grade 1 chase of the British jumps season, so it is often where the leading staying chasers meet for the first time that winter. The exact date is set in each year's fixture list.
Race times and final fields are confirmed by the declarations in the days before the meeting, and the order of races can change from year to year, so the official racecard is the one to check on the day.
Haydock is a left-handed, flat, galloping track. In winter the ground can turn testing, which makes the race a test of stamina as well as class, and some runners will be having their first run of the season, so fitness is a real question.
These are general notes about the course and time of year, not a forecast: check the official going on the morning of racing.
The Betfair Chase is usually shown live on ITV Racing; check the TV listings on the day. Our ITV Racing guide explains what ITV covers.
Any selections we make for the meeting publish on the morning of racing, with the horse, the price at publishing, the jockey and trainer and our written reasoning. See the Haydock racing tips page for the course guide and that day's picks, and NAP of the Day for our strongest pick on each racing day.
